Would highly recommend this trip with Captain Jesse!! Jesse said we likely wouldn't find the goliaths, as they were essentially wiped out from the red tide, but we would be able to get into some snapper/grouper a little father offshore. Goliath Grouper are one of the largest predators in our waters! Also known as Mycteroperca Microlepis, gags are caught as close as 100 yards from the beach and up to 30 miles offshore depending what time of year it is thought they move in shore during January thru March.Red Grouper in the Naples area are the most common of the grouper family. My dad and I flew down to fish with Jesse and Kelly for Tarpon. Note: Goliath Grouper are protected from harvest by law in Florida waters. Shortly after daylight we were seeing plenty of fish!
