For a visitor only used to paved easy roads, the trip to the trailOld Growth Cedar Grove which is a nice walk, The beach goes on for miles clean, and quiet, camp sites are big but has tons of mosquitos so bring spray.

The first half of the trail has some serious elevation gain but the trail is in excellent condition with switchbacks to make it more manageable. If you can’t manage an uphill hike then the walk around the lake and bring some lunch is a perfect afternoon.Head north off the highway and you will need to travel approximately 11 km on a bumpy, windy, narrow road. Nice lakeside camping and spots for lunch.
