Jughead and Betty confront the Stonies for "killing" himJughead and Betty arrive at Stonewall Prep, where they confront the Stonies as they discuss the philosophical novel "Crime and Punishment." Hiram’s also been attacking shipments to the speakeasy, but thankfully, Veronica’s hired the Serpents as her full-time protection. He proceeds down the hallway, hoping to find another exit, but he was ambushed and repeatedly hit and kicked. Betty explains that the game makes people crazy. Tall Boy essentially helped Hiram Lodge start a mutiny, and Jughead wanted to know why. Archie shares with Jughead a drawing of Ricky’s which depicts him surrounded by the Gargoyle King and Gargoyle gang, as well as a well detailed sketch of Ricky himself. Archie, Betty, and Jughead take a seat as Veronica sings on stage for Archie. Betty is determined to follow through with her attempt at deprogramming her mother. As for Betty, Alice reminds her that this is exactly what Dr. Patel was referring to. Pop's answer on the shooter leaving the register untouched confirmed Jughead's suspicion that Fred's shooting was far from a random act of violence.
Upon further examination, Jughead concludes it’s the same writing as the first Baxter Brothers book, down to the character names. So now, she’ll have to file her story with quotes from unnamed sources, which most likely won’t be enough.
Jughead asks his grandfather about DuPont. In fear for Jughead’s life, Betty wants him to transfer from Stonewall Prep as he may be too close to uncovering something. During which time, Betty asks Jughead if he believes that evil can be past down. DuPont and Jughead’s grandfather are the only members of the society not dead. Disregarding the regular scavengers, Steve told them that a stranger came in last week claiming that he was in search of bike parts, though he didn't buy anything.
Ever since his father, Jughead is determined and not easily deterred, willing and able to overcome any obstacle in front of him. According to Junkyard Steve, he was a tall, low-life type, who happened to be wearing a Serpents jacket. Jughead, Sweet Pea, and Fangs begin reciting the sixth Serpent law; "In unity, there is strength." Jughead has proven himself much to Ethel’s pleasure. Unfortunately, Ethel can’t recall.
Betty continued. As for Betty, she continues her article on the big game.
However, Betty and Veronica refuse to allow that to happen. Archie then gets a collect call from Mad Dog at the Leopold and Loeb Juvenile Detention Center. He has a P.O. Betty informs him of the open house the Farm is having, so it’s not nearly as dangerous as him and Archie raiding a building full of Gargoyles.
So, she’s either lying to the governor or she faked the report. But, no one said that the Gargoyle King can’t add on to his own quest and offer a different outcome.
