Furthermore, when the guesthouse employee tried to coerce my friend out of her room to talk to her while I was there, they actually unlocked the room, uninvited, which is against the law. I think the guesthouse preys on new students and their parents who have no way of knowing better, and is unfairly profiting thanks to this.

The M Building is a special location, because the rooms are located in a separate wing of a former hospital.
