None of the curses are very good, especially in multiplayer, I'd cut all of them and replace them with Control Magic/Mind Control/etc since they do a better job of slowing people down. Remove Stratus Dancer for being too expensive. Then add Spellweaver Volute because that card is stupid and lovely. Hexproof has two holes: wraths and edicts.

Glimmer of Genius, Foresee, Jace's Ingenuity, Concentrate, Opportunity are all unexciting but get the job done.

Stingscourger is worth adding for red bounce. Retaliation and Junkyo Bell aren't great. As such, we're letting you know that we've updated our Privacy Policy to reflect the new rule set forth by the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).Welcome to MTGGoldfish.

They're also just a guideline for mechanics to use with the commander, with suggestions of cards to put in those mechanics categories. There's one thing I absolutely disagree with in your comment, though. Book of Rass is clunky, Altar's Reap is a bit situational. Browse > Home / Decks / Commander / Greven, Predator Captain / Greven EDH Greven EDH by zzepic101 by zzepic101 These decks are high Johnny, low/no Spike. In EDH, any card that says "each opponent" automatically gets an extra point. I can understand why some people would like that, so I added some to the "maybeboard." If I were to scale back the other cards for a single card, I would probably go with [[Waste Not]].Why not Yisan for mono-g?

Focusing more on going wide with more overrun is one possibility.Brion: Bottom-of-library effects don't do much, so get rid of Epitaph Golem and replace Vessel of Endless Rest.

Seedguide Ash isn't great since you don't have a convenient way to sacrifice it. Again, I'll be changing a lot to this deck soon, like Faithless Looting, etc.Verdeloth: Pathbreaker Ibex is $3. I made several changes based on your recommendations here, as well.

You're not running nearly enough creatures to make use of Whip of Erebos, Soul Manipulation, or Necromantic Thirst. Replace them with bog standard draw spells.

Yes, it may be a "cheaper alternative" to Deck XYZ, but it's not budget. The deck itself runs <$20.

Would cut Hover Barrier, Sleep, and Snow Fortress unless you're playing in 1v1 or your meta is oddly aggressive. Showstopper only really good when you go wide. If you can find better cantrips I'd play some of them over Wanderer's Twig or Traveler's Amulet.

This is how I make most of my deck lists. Roughshod Mentor and Brawn are unimpressive because saprolings with trample aren't as impressive as just having big saprolings.

Arena of the Ancients is narrow and slow.

You can make him work for under $20 (all the dorks + temur sabertooth combo cost ~nothing), and he has infinite upgrade potential.I thought about doing Yisan, but every time I've made a deck for him it's flopped bad.

We always play free for all with 4. Opt and Darksteel Pendant could be replaced with cantrips or draw. Thanks for pointing that out. Whatever your budget, he has an build for you! I'd look for more token generators, including Krenko's Command.

Arena of the Ancients shuts down entire decks -- any voltron or aggro commander, Captain Sisay, Roon, etc. Thanks a ton for the recommendations. I didn't make any changes to this build (yet). If you're willing to play non-saproling tokens, try Howl of the Nightpack and Wolfbriar Elemental. Good recommendation.Kyoki: I didn't go with any of the three you suggested because I felt Horobi was a little too oppressive and 1-dimensional as a general (others probably would build him with a wider focus, but that's just how my mind works), and the other two are a bit expensive for the builds.

Like in Talrand, replace low-impact artifacts with cantrips and draw.

Llanowar Augur is worse than Giant Growth.

I'd add draw/loot/rummage effects such as Deal Broker/Tormenting Voice/Faithless Looting to help get through your deck.Verdeloth: Don't see this guy too much, the only other Green Commander I can think of for a budget is Yisan, though.

Most of the time you'll be discarding lands and it doesn't matter how many spells you discard if you always draw a hand full of them. Shrike Harpy is not removal. Take that spare money and get a Notorious Throng.

Today Eric is brewing around Alela, Artful Provocateur in Brawl, and providing three unique budget upgrades. I'm really big on theme for this deck.

Find a slot for Elite Scaleguard, tapping down creatures for an alpha strike is always useful.

Akoum Hellkite, Arcum's Whistle, Wild Swing, and Annihilator cards aren't proper removal. Also makes it easier to turn on effects like Butcher and Archon. This doesn't count the cost of basic lands.

Hive are not proper token makers. Recurring Insight is around $1 if you can find room in the budget.

That would be perfect!

Riftwing Cloudskate derserves a slot.
