In a mixed run of results for the Mariners Academy, Nick Montgomery's men's team have earned a 1-1 draw away from home whilst our women's team had two players sent off in their 5-2 loss to ladder-leaders APIA Leichhardt. Another weekend of high stakes football has seen the women's academy eliminated from the finals after a 2-0 defeat to Gladesville Ravens whilst the men kept their season alive with a 1-0 win at Pluim Park. With teams travelling from; Newcastle Jets Academy; Sydney FC Academy; Western Sydney Wanderers This weekend of NPL action saw the women's Academy put nine past a helpless Inter Lions side with Danielle Wise netting four goals, whilst the men featured in an eight-goal thriller at Pluim Park.
The academy teams play the Y-League and the National Premier Leagues, the highest level of youth football in Australia. There are also all Central Coast Mariners Youth scheduled matches that they are going to play in the future. Gladesville Ravens vs. Senior players occasionally play in the academy side, as in the case when they're recovering from injury. Also, a very young women's Academy side were downed 2-0 by UNSW FC. This weekend of NPL action saw Danielle Wise net four goals in the women's 7-1 victory over Southern Branch, while the men fell 2-0 at home to Bonnyrigg White Eagles.
