I could not find it under Dipnet. now upon examining roll mop herring one would notice that it is pickled and jarred for human consumption and can be found in grocery stores.

(kinda like smoked osters) I see that you can get them in water only or in salt water only.Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So I would think that if you looked into a pickling recipe book, this could lead to a great start.
